Our domain is hosted by pairLite.com. pairLite has a great hosting service for “hobbyists”. It’s very easy to set up e-mail addresses and a web site, customer service is responsive, and they have a great track record – very little down time.

Originally we did not have a web site at pairLite at all. Instead we had the site redirect to our blog. This is easy to set up just by modifying the .htaccess file as described in this article: http://www.webweaver.nu/html-tips/web-redirection.shtml. pairLite provides a direct link to edit the file so you don’t even need to upload changes – just make them online and click the button to save. To redirect the entire site to another site, we only needed to add one line to the .htaccess file:
Redirect 301 / http://thegreenbookcase.wordpress.com/about/

Making a static page for the web site, or modifying other text files, is easy, too. You can even browse to the file and choose to edit it (rather than download and later upload).
